Description

Blonde haired, blue eyed, fair skinned, and clean shaven, Bran hardly matches his namesake, nor the image of your typical mysterious wizard. While in his shop, he does his best, with long white and brown robes, a staff, and a pointy hat that he keeps on the hat rack. But at home, or out 'in the field' his clothing choices are much more practical, and less likely to get caught in the bushes. While he is prone to wearing a hat, to keep with tradition, it is often the first thing that goes to the ground in the heat of battle.

Biography

Bran was born in the capitol to a merchant family of modest means. His life was not much more exciting that any other peasant's life. Certainly he was more comfortable, and cleaner, and slightly better educated. But in terms of real excitement, the kind you hear about in the great epics, well . . . Bran had accepted that he would be a shopkeep upon reaching adulthood, possibly opening his own shop with a loan from his father. It was the way of things, and all things considered, not a bad life. Certainly better than toiling in a field for someone else's gain. But dull, all the same.
Until the adventurers came through his parents' shop to purchase goods for their next outing.
Bran had no illusions about himself, he was smart, but not strong or particularly hardy, he did not think of himself as heroic, and thought himself ill suited to adventure. But the stories they would tell!!! Goblins, orcs, hippogriffs, elven towns in the trees, artifacts to be destroyed in mountain forges! All very exciting stuff, and he loved to collect the stories from the adventurers that would come by. Some times he would write them down. It was this latter habit that drew the attention of one greybearded old adventurer by the name of Berrigan Enge. Enge called himself a historian as well as a general scholar, and he collected knowledge and stories from all across the kingdom, though he resided between adventures in the capitol city. After much discussion with his parents, Bran became Enge's student. Of course in the early years this mostly entailed doing chores and studying, but Bran enjoyed it. The studying part at least. He still put in time at the shop, and spent time with his family, but most of his time was spent learning from Master Enge.
As it turns out, Enge was a wizard in the employ of the King. And Bran had become his apprentice. After a few years of traditional study, history, writing, economics, basic herbalism, Bran's training began in earnest. Master Enge brought him to see the strangest, unearthly sights. He educated him about the elements and the planes of existence, and the monsters that came from the uncivilized places of the world. And magic. This was what Bran had sought out his whole life, magic. All in one word. While other apprentices made discussed 'bending reality to the will', Bran tended to think of it as 'aligning the will with the natural world'.
After 15 years of study, and training, Bran left Master Enge's tower to see the world. Oddly enough, after a few years he found himself in a very small peasant town, running a shop of sorts, using his magical talents to make life a little easier for the folk of Granmere. Though he still enjoys listening to stories, and sometimes will take a well told tale as payment for his services. It would seem that he may yet be a shop keeper, though of a different variety than his parents.
